Welcome 2020

We all welcomed the year 2020 with great joy and happiness. The number 2020 was fancy, a landmark year of completing the decade journey and I wanted to finish the decade on a good note. Little did I know that unbelievable events could turn life upside down.

Before Welcoming the new year 2020 let me take you all two days behind the clock of the new year. It's December 30th 2019 and I backpacked for a solo trip to a hill station, The minibus was all set, met many fellow travellers who were solo, a few couples and a gang of friends. It was an exciting and fun journey, later we reached the destination and fall asleep. The next day it was an exciting Trekking experience to scale the 3rd Highest peak of Karnataka The Tadiandamol peak. After the trek, I was refreshed with a hot shower and our celebration of new year eve begins, we all welcomed the new year with dance, joy and fireworks hoping to be a fun-filled and successful year.

So what happened next? An unbelievable occurrence and it was everywhere...

Yes, you guessed it right, The deadly pandemic hit all the regions of the world which were just considered as not so serious virus when it was first identified in Wuhan- China.

Covid-19 virus

The microorganism devasted millions of lives and livelihood all over the world, our office was shut down and soon work from home was normalcy. Social Distancing and Masks were mandatory, I packed my bags and moved to my native and continued working from home, trust me it was very challenging as my home is located in the rural part of our district, the internet network was a major concern and frequent power cuts adding salts to the wound. The government of India imposed nationwide lockdown and I felt like a house arrest, I was all day glued to the screens doing office work and at night once again glued to the screen watching movies and series. This mundane activity continued for weeks…

Social Distancing with Mandatory Masks

My sleep cycle was disturbed, Work-life balance was completely taken off as now work was a part of home activity, our managers felt we do not need leaves as we were at home all day and could not go out due to lockdown, the frustration of the work kept growing and growing, when it seemed like the bubble would blast, things were slowly getting adapted and I was able to manage in a better way and slowly the restrictions were eased, the outdoor activity resumed and much needed fresh air was available.

Things were slowly returning to normalcy, few companies reopened with minimum staff, commercial activities resumed and we celebrated the new year at our homes hoping for the better new year 2021 and I was just waiting for this Covid19 phase to completely end and declare the world as corona free…
